Rick Wheeler, Plein Air Watercolor and Photo Guide
Originally from California, Rick Wheeler lived in the Four Corners region of the desert southwest for over 20 years. He holds a B.A. degree in Fine Art, with a minor in Integrative Studies from Prescott College, Arizona and an Associate of Arts degree in Graphic Design. His education included classes at the San Francisco Art Institute and the San Francisco Academy of Art University.
Two teachers heavily influenced Rick's art education. Figurative painter, Kent Rupp, a master draftsman and Wally Hedrick (1928-2003), an iconic figure in the San Francisco art scene and "beat era" of the 1950's.
"Although much of my work in recent years has been for the National Parks and Monuments and the outdoor adventure/eco-tourism industry, I have completed projects for book and magazine publishers, educational institutions, technology companies, the wine industry, arts organizations, non-profits, design firms and advertising agencies.
